How to Keep Your New Year Resolution
Every year it is a tradition for me to make a resolution keep it for about a week then break it about a week later. Every year I try to break my unwritten record of how long to keep my resolutions. Some years I do make it longer and other years I give up the next day. Over the years however I have learn't some things that help me keep my resolutions longer. So here are some ways I have learned to keep my resolutions for as long as possible.
1. Be Realistic
The best way to not only keep your resolutions but set them is to be realistic. Being realistic sets you up for success. If your resolutions aren't realistic you won't keep them forever and gives you that feeling of not accomplishing something you wanted to. Things you should think about are past resolutions that you succeed at, habits that can be easily broken, things you can easily be dedicated at, or any resolution you have tried2. Have Help
Having help can remind you of your resolutions. You can tell your friend, your family, or both your resolutions. When people know your resolution they will constantly make sure you are succeeding your goals. This will ether make you annoyed or help you succeed your goals. You could also place bets or compete with each other to give you soothing to work for.3.Write Them Down
Writing your resolutions down can get them better in your mind and easier to remember. They also make it so your more committed to your goals. If you are really serious you can post them where you will see them on a daily basis. Sticky notes work great for posting your resolutions. Radon reminders are great especially when you see them when you really need them most.
4. Put Them in your Phone
Putting them in your phone is another way to remember your resolutions. If your still serious about your resolution you can put reminders on your morning alarms. Putting your goals on your morning alarms is a great reminder at the beginning of the day of what you want to accomplish. Another great way to remind yourself is to put it in your notes, electronic back-rounds, and calendars.
5. Understand How Hard Your Resolution is
Understanding your resolution can help you be realistic on how long it should take you to succeed. Even if you don't succeed knowing how hard it is can still give you a feeling of success. Every little thing you achieved is something and you should feel very good about your self. Always remember even if your resolution doesn't feel that hard it could be very challenging to you.
6. Reward Your-self
The most important part of succeeding your resolution is to reward your self. Rewarding your self can be simple as eating a special dessert or doing your nails. If you won that bet you placed a week earlier reward yourself. You should reward yourself fo any little thing that you did. Even if you feel like you didn't keep your resolution that long you still should reward yourself for the time you did because you earned it.
